The Old Vicarage, Washington. Village Gardening Club outing - part 2

The Old Vicarage, Washington, in West Sussex - sorry to disappoint if you thought maybe I'd whizzed across the pond to the USA.

This garden was our second garden of the day and was a second choice, the first choice having been  cancelled by the owner. At very short notice our organiser arranged for us to visit The Old Vicarage at Washington. What an amazing garden it proved to be, with wonderful views to the south downs and beautiful gardens - quite the very best one we have visited.

We all loved this woodland area, particularly the treehouse complete with wood-burning stove and fairy lights.  The whole area was quite magical and we all wanted a treehouse in ouir gardens.

We all liked this cloud topiarised cottoneaster against the house wall.

Very in vogue just now - wall planting

No garden visit is complete with a stop for tea and cake

Members were intrigued to note that the stone walnuts under a walnut tree were made by a former member of the Gardening Club.

We passed this cottage on our way down the hill to get back on the coach.  Interesting that it had a corrugated iron side to it.
