Parham House gardens - October 2023
The weather has been extraordinarily mild and fairly sunny recently, so before the weather changed, so Angie, Ann, and I decided that a trip to Parham Park Gardens with our cameras would be good. Another incentive was that as Parham Park Gardens is a partner garden to the RHS, we were able to access the gardens for free, and the offer ended the following week. Parham Park is an Elizabethan house set in an ancient deer park near Pulborough in West Sussex. The Estate was originally owned by the Monastery of Westminster and granted to Robert Palmer by King Henry VIII in 1540. The grounds consist of seven acres of Pleasure Grounds laid out in the 18th century, with a lake, a brick and turf maze and many specimen trees. Our main interest in visiting Parham was the old four-acre Walled Garden, with side herbaceous borders, a rose garden (at present being re-designed), a cut flower garden, a vegetable garden, and an orchard.
