Tulip Festival at Arundel Castle

Marie said "Lets go to see the Tulip Festival at Arundel Castle" - so last Tuesday morning we set off for Arundel in West Sussex.  It was a gloriously warm sunny day and we enjoyed seeing the tulips at their best.

Arundel Castle

The tree is a Paulownia tomentosa - sometimes called an Empress Tree, or Foxglove Tree. The flowers do resemble the flowers of foxgloves.

Close up of the flowers

A magnificent display of red tulips arranged in a decreasing (or increasing) circle with the Cathedral as a backdrop

Another display in red and orange with the Cathedral in the background

A couple of  "workers" in the garden

The stumpery

Apple trees grown over an arch

Marie found some wine!

I found some Pelargoniums

What is Marie looking at?

Crown imperials (Fritillaria imperialis)

Lunch by the river.
It was a glorious day - thanks for suggesting it Marie.
