Lunch at The Anchor Pub, Pyrford Lock - January 2023

It has been really really cold here in the UK  this month, so I haven't been out with my camera, but we had arranged to have lunch with Sue and Malcolm at The Anchor pub which sits on the banks of the Wey Navigation at Pyrford Lock. . As the day was quite a bit warmer than it has been, and the weather was fine, I took my small camera.  The Anchor is a really pleasant pub - but like most pubs these days, it is mainly a restaurant.   I couldn't find any history about the pub, but a sign outside said 1777, although the building itself looked fairly modern.   The River Wey Navigation is one of the oldest river navigations in the country, being created between 1651 and 1653 to provide a highway to London for Guildford merchants.  It was extended to Godalming in the 18th century and is almost twenty miles long, connecting Godalming to the River Thames at Weybridge.
