Trip to Australia October 2023 - Part 5 - Port Adelaide and Semaphore

Image
A nostalgic visit for my younger sister, Emma, visiting childhood haunts.   The port and Semaphore were places the family visited when they first moved to Adelaide as they lived not too far away.   I had never been there before, but both my sisters said the port had changed.    The part of the port we went to is obviously undergoing change and going upmarket with some new-build properties overlooking the harbour.   We all felt the place could do with some restaurants and coffee shops.  The only one we could find was closed for the afternoon. Port Adelaide We came across some street art on the side of buildings overlooking building sites. Semaphore  This is Part 5 of my visit - for Parts 1, 2, 3, and 4 see 'Archive' on the left panel.

Trip to Australia October 2023 - Part 4 - Himeji Japanese Garden, Adelaide

Image
Opened in 1985, the Himeji Japanese garden hidden behind a high hedge in the heart of Adelaide celebrates the sister-city relationship between Adelaide and the ancient Japanese city of Himeji.   The garden is designed on Japanese principles, but with planting suited to Adelaide's climate.  I found it an extremely peaceful garden. This is Part 4 of my visit - for Parts 1, 2 and 3 see 'Archive' on the left panel.

Trip to Australia October 2023 - Part 3 - Adelaide's colourful indoor market

I always love to visit indoor markets, and the indoor market in Adelaide is a particular favourite.   Adelaide Central Market was opened in 1869 and, with over 70+ traders, is one of the largest in the southern hemisphere.   This is Part 3 of my visit - for Parts 1 and 2 see 'Archive' on the left panel.
