Village Gardening Club Show - August 2021

Having had to cancel our show last year,  the Gardening Club was delighted when we were able to hold our show this year. Our show has always been held on a Gardening Club day, and for members only, but it had been agreed that in 2020 we would hold the show on a Saturday, and invite the village to see our entries.  However, it was decided that due to covid, and not knowing what the situation might be at the time of the show, we would once again hold the show on a weekday and not invite the village to come in.   But next year .......  watch this space!

The Morris Dancers in Horsham - May 2023

 We should have guessed when we saw some of the Morris Dancers at the Park and Ride bus stop,but we were not prepared for the large number of Morris Dancers gathered outside the Lynd Cross pub in Horsham.    We went in for coffee and watched even more dancers gathering before groups of them dispersed around the town.    Morris dancing is an English folk dance first recorded in 1448.   The dance is based on rhythmic stepping by a group of dancers, often wearing bells on their knees or shoes.  Sticks, Swords, or handkerchiefs are also wielded in tune with the music. This was obviously well organised as the groups of Morris Dancers moved around the town all morning performing their own particular dance.    These are just a few photos I took on my iPhone as we came across them . The drummers were fantastic. More soon --------------------------
