Normally held in June, and after a break of a year due to Covid, the Village Fete was finally held in July this year. The weather was not that wonderful - quite dull and cloudy, but this did not put off visitors to the Fete. We did not have quite as many stalls as we would have, but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Such a relief for the organisers.
The Village Gardening Club had their usual plant stall and we made a record amount, all of which was donated to charity. This year we decided that we would offer a small potted succulent free to each child that visited our stall. I potted up about thirty small pots of various succulents and our Chairman managed to pot on another ten, or so. Almost at the end of the day, when we had practically sold out of plants, some small boys came up and asked if they could buy the remaining free succulents. They said they wanted to make some money for their school. We sold the little plants to them for 10p each. They gleefully took them off to the other side of the green and were selling them for £1 each! Obviously budding entrepreneurs!
