Camber Sands and Dungeness

We left Hastings after lunch to drive to Camber Sands Holiday Park where we had booked a caravan.  We quickly made ourselves at home.

The next morning we drove the fairly short distance along the coast to Dungeness.   We had a short walk around the old lighthouse and then made our way to the cafe for morning coffee and to pick up some sandwiches for our lunch.

In the foreground is the old power station which is now not functioning and will be dismantled within five years.   You can see the newer power station in the distance behind the power lines.

Some of the flowers we saw growing nearby.

Valerian

Viper's Buglosss

White Campion

Miniature scabious

Sea Kale leaf

Foxgloves

Grasses - it was a very windy day

Red poppy

Flowering Sea Kale

The small cafe doubled up as the station for the Dymchurch, Hythe and Dungeness train line - a single-track line with trains running two hourly.   The train pulled into the station whilst we were having coffee so we had to take some photos!

There might be some more train photos!

We spent the rest of the day exploring the beach at Dungeness - there is a lot to photograph there so this will be continued.
