Pauline & Lucy's visit August 2019 - London, Stonehenge & Bath

The day arrived at last - my sister Pauline and her daughter Lucy arrived from Holland.  They were on a tour of Europe and had visited Italy, Switzerland, Germany and Holland and were to spend five days here in the UK.  They spent their first night here in a hotel at Greenwich, and the next day I travelled up to London to meet them as we were all booked into the Victory Services Club for three nights.   I arrived first and waited for them in Starbucks close to the Club, and when they arrived we checked our luggage in and went for some lunch.

First stop was Liberty's for lunch - this was not planned, we just arrived at lunchtime.  Then we walked the rest of the way down Oxford Street, then down Charing Cross Road, and made our way to Picadilly, calling at a couple of 'Must See Shops' on the way, then up Regents Street, calling in at The Perfume Shop, back to Oxford Street and then on to check-in at the Victory Services Club.

Lunch was Avocado on Sourdough bread with rocket and a glass of iced coffee.

The next day we were up bright and early as we had to be at Victoria Coach Station for the 8.30 am departure of our coach to Stonehenge and Bath

First stop - Stonehenge

The 'smudge' you see at the top of the "Stones" is a swarm of flying ants.

This is the stone that was placed to line up precisely with the sun through the stone circle at the summer solstice and winter solstice.
