After a two-hour drive, we arrived at our destination, Anlaby Station, South Australia's oldest Merino stud. The station was holding a Spring Festival that weekend and our first stop was a large barn with stalls selling a variety of country crafts. After a walk around and then a welcome cup of tea and a cake (of course), we made our way down to the main house and gardens.
Anlaby had been in the Dutton family for many many years but has fairly recently been bought by two businessmen from Sydney. They renovated the property, which was in a quite dilapidated state, and are now working on the gardens and arboretum. They still breed the merino sheep on the Station, but we didn't see many that day.

This used to be a glass house full of pelargoniums. What a magnificent sight it wold have been. |

These were the only two sheep we saw - I was quite disappointed. |
