Trip to Australia October 2023 - Part 9 - Barossa Valley trip

With my two sisters. Pauline and Emma with Peter driving us, we all took a trip to the Barossa Valley and had an overnight stay in an hotel.  These are some of the places we visited, although I have not recorded all of the names.  We had a great time.

We stopped for tea and cake at Maggie Beer's.  Magggie Beer is a well-known Australian TV Cook.

A beautiful dam which we were able to walk around

Turtles in the dam

There was a small exotic bird enclosure

This peacock was walking outside an enclosure

Eventually, he displayed his beautiful fan feathers

This red gum tree was the first Australian home of Friederich Herbig who lived there with his wife Caroline and the first two of their 16 children.   As the family grew Friederich Herbig built a .two room hut nearby The tree is estimated to be 500 years old with a height of 24 metres and a diameter of seven metres.

Barossa Bush Chapel

On our way home, we stopped off at The World's Largest Rocking Horse.  It stands at over 18 metres and weighs 25 tonnes.  You might just spot a tiny figure at the very top - that's my youngest sister - Emma!

There was a small zoo nearby with various birds, goats and kangaroos.
