Golden Wedding Anniversary Weekend - Eastbourne August 2021.

Towards the end of August marked our 50th wedding anniversary - and yes, it has to be said ........where did those years go?   We didn't want a big 'do', so opted for a quiet weekend away - just us.   We really wanted to go to Dorset or Devon, but it was impossible to book anywhere, so we found an hotel in Eastbourne.  We've been to Eastbourne before, many times, but not for several years, so we do know the area,   The hotel was good, right on the front with a car park . So many of them don't.  (We won't talk about the parking fine!!)

We opted to use the bus for our two days there.  We went to Hastings one day. Hastings is also somewhere we  know quite well as Brian's mother lived in St. Leonards, next to Hastings, for several years and we visited her often.  The main purpose of the visit was for me to take photographs of the fishing boats and tall Net Sheds, where the fishermen in the old days hung their nets to dry and store.  We have to say we were very disappointed at how tatty and touristy that area has become, but grateful we used to visit about 40 years ago and remember it as it was.

The second day we went to Bexhill on Sea, also somewhere we have visited before, but not somewhere we really know well.   We were impressed at the tidiness of the front and had a really pleasant walk along the promenade, stopping for coffee along the way.  We also had a walk around the small town before getting the bus back to Eastbourne.

Sadly we returned home on the third day, but we had a lovely time and the weather was good.
