With the dry and mild weather we are having here in the UK just now, Friday was an ideal day for my neighbour, John, and myself to walk on the heath with our cameras. Our project was Autumn colour.
We should have guessed when we saw some of the Morris Dancers at the Park and Ride bus stop, but we were not prepared for the large number of Morris Dancers gathered outside the Lynd Cross pub in Horsham. We went in for coffee and watched even more dancers gathering before groups of them dispersed around the town. Morris dancing is an English folk dance first recorded in 1448. The dance is based on rhythmic stepping by a group of dancers, often wearing bells on their knees or shoes. Sticks, Swords, or handkerchiefs are also wielded in tune with the music. This was obviously well organised as the groups of Morris Dancers moved around the town all morning performing their own particular dance. These are just a few photos I took on my iPhone as we came across them . The drummers were fantastic. More soon --------------------------
Delightful. Great shots
