ABINGER ROUGHS, SURREY - 1/11/15

Last November, I joined members of the Cranleigh Camera Club on their visit to Abinger Roughs.  This was somewhere I had never been to, or even heard of, yet is only about  4 miles from where I live.  Abinger Roughs is close to Abinger Hammer, a village we have often driven through.  The Roughs is a beautiful area of mixed woods and  takes its name from an area of poor sandy soil where medieval fields met rough pasture.   The area is now looked after by the National Trust.

The day we visited was incredibly foggy, yet I am surprisingly pleased with some of my photographs.

We wondered where the photographer was - he wasn't one of ours. He popped up a minute after I took this shot - he had been getting another lens from his bag.
